Jeff Anthony | Chief Financial Officer, McCarthy Automotive Group

Jeff Anthony joined the McCarthy Automotive Group in 1994.  He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the group which controls 11 franchises with revenues of over $600-million. Before joining McCarthy, Jeff worked as a CPA for House Park & CO., a local accounting firm specializing in the manufacturing, printing and retail industries. Jeff has a long list of community service including serving as a current Board of Trustee for Park University and a current board member for the Kansas City Metro Crime Commission. In 2019, the Kansas City Business Journal named him CFO of the Year. Jeff graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Accounting. 

Edward Barash | CEO, EIP Corp.

Ed co-founded EIP Corp in 1974, a regional third-party administration firm for pension, profit sharing, and 401(k) plans.  EIP provides plan design, recordkeeping, reporting, testing, compliance, and total administration for approximately 500 qualified retirement plans.  Ed is a graduate of UMKC; he has been a long-standing member of The American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries; and he has served as a volunteer and/or board member for the American Red Cross, Downtown KC YMCA, and Ronald McDonald House.

 

Mark Basso - Retired

Happily retired, Mark spent the past 8 years as a sales executive at Cerner Corporation, specializing in cardiology and radiology informatics and image archiving. Prior to Cerner, Mark worked for Siemens Medical Systems, AGFA Healthcare and prior to his medical experience, owned three beer distributorships in Kansas City with two partners. Mark graduated from Northwest Missouri State with a degree in business. He lives in Brookside and has a son, Andrew who is working on his masters. Mark has been involved in the Centurions program, Leukemia Society Man of the year and volunteers his time with the Front Porch Alliance, teaching grade school children in the urban core and also volunteers at Thelma’s Kitchen.

Bruce Breckenridge | CEO, Enjet Aero

Bruce Breckenridge is Founder and CEO of Enjet Aero, LLC a Kansas City based aerospace manufacturer focusing on precision machined and fabricated components and assemblies for jet engines. Bruce has spent over 20 years working in and with aerospace businesses. He currently serves as a member of the Aerospace Industry Association’s (AIA) Board of Governors. Bruce also serves on the Board of Symphony in the Flint Hills.

 

Gerry Brenneman | Senior Partner, Polsinelli

Gerry Brenneman joined Polsinelli in 1985 after he graduated from the University of Kansas law firm. He has over 35 years of experience representing both large corporations and closely held companies related to their corporate legal needs, including mergers and acquisitions, the negotiation of major contracts, formation/dissolution and corporate strategy. For his insurance practice, Gerry works on mergers and acquisitions related to insurance companies (including Form A filings and approvals) and insurance agencies. Gerry has also represented insurance clients on many other types of issues, including drafting and negotiating insurance distributor, third party administrator and reinsurance agreements, and the resolution of contract disputes between insurance clients and their agents. He also has his life and health producer license. In health care, Gerry is a key member of the Polsinelli mergers and acquisition team that works on all major acquisitions and divestitures for a faith-based, nonprofit health organization operating over 140 hospitals and 700 other care sites in 21 states.

John Crowley | President, Midwest Builders' Casualty

John Crowley serves as president of Midwest Builders’ Casualty, a mutual insurance company licensed in 15 states throughout the Midwest. The company specializes in workers compensation insurance with a focus on the construction and manufacturing industries. Mr. Crowley has worked in all aspects of accounting, including business consulting, taxation, and audit services. He has spent the last 15 years in the insurance industry serving, most recently as the CEO/CFO for Midwest Builders’ Casualty. He is a current member of the Kansas Workers Compensation Insurance Assigned Risk Plan Governing Board and is a past co-chairman of the Kansas Workers’ Compensation Pool Coalition. Mr. Crowley is a graduate from the University of Missouri—Kansas City with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

 

Ed Elder | President, Colliers International

Ed Elder entered the commercial real estate business in 1985 with Block and Company. He later joined Grubb and Ellis/The Winbury Group in 1995, where he holds the title of managing director. Mr. Elder graduated from Kansas State University in 1985 with a BS in business. He lives in the Brookside area of Kansas City, Missouri, with his wife and four children and regularly attends mass at Visitation Parish.

Banks Floodman | Director of Business Development, Sunflower Development Group

As director of business development for Sunflower Development Group, Banks Floodman primarily focuses on equity and debt placement, research, discovery, underwriting and implementation for project development. Prior to joining Sunflower, Banks was the senior associate athletic director at the University of Kansas where he managed the fundraising efforts for the athletic department. Banks received an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Kansas. Banks enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife Erica and two boys, Pierce and Van. Banks currently serves on the Board of Trustees for Leadership Kansas, an organization focusing on the development of leadership throughout the State of Kansas. 

 

Michael Furlong | Vice President, CNA Lawyers Professional Liability

Michael Furlong is the business leader for the Lawyers Professional Liability at CNA. CNA provides malpractice coverage to more than 50,000 law firms and more than 155,000 lawyers in the United States. At CNA, Mr. Furlong is responsible for the underwriting, business development, distribution, and profitability of the business. Prior to CNA, he was the lawyers’ business leader at Swiss Re serving as claims counsel in the Reinsurance Claims department. Mr. Furlong attended the University of Iowa and graduated with a BA in 1985. He received his law degree from Creighton University Law School in 1989.

Kirk Gastinger | GastingerWalker & Architects / Founder, Emeritus

Kirk is a distinguished leader in architectural design and an instrumental force in the sustainable design movement. Gastinger has served as Board Chair at Horizon Academy, Charlotte Street Foundation and 2020 Leadership. He is on the Facilities Committee of Starlight Theatre Association and the Advocacy Committee of the American Institute of Architects. Kirk is the Executive Director of Cube, the Center for Understanding the Built Environment.

 

Gary Gilson | retired partner, Husch Blackwell, LLP.

Gary Gilson advised clients for more than 30 years in public and private merger and acquisition and capital formation transactions. During this time, he has also counseled public and private boards of directors on corporate governance matters, including dealing with activist shareholders. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with degrees in business administration and law. He is a past member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has been recognized by Chambers, USA, and Best Lawyers in America.

DICK HALL | PRESIDENT, B & R INSULATION

Dick Hall is the President of B & R Insulation, Inc. an environmental construction firm that performs asbestos, lead and mold abatement and non-structural demolition in the Kansas and Missouri area. He also runs a consulting business, ACT, that performs consulting, testing, and training for asbestos, lead, mold and other occupational and household hazards. A 1987 graduate of the University of Kansas Business School, he went on to UMKC Law School and graduated in 1990. After a short time practicing law, he went to work at B&R, the family business. He is a member of his fraternity's National Foundation Board, Alpha Tau Omega. Dick lives in Prairie Village with his wife, Ann. His daughter, Lizzy, is newly married and works at C2FO in Kansas City and son, Reser, is working on a Finance degree at KU. 

 

Steve Heeney | Cereal Food Processors, Inc.

Steve Heeney served as executive vice president, finance and administration for Cereal Food Processors, Inc., for 25 years. Prior to his career with Cereal Food, he was consulting manager with Andersen Consulting. He currently serves on the executive board of Horizon Academy, a school for students with disabilities. Mr. Heeney is also a past treasurer and board member for the Midwest Christian Counseling Center. He is a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Knights of Columbus. He earned a BS in agricultural economics from Kansas State University and an MBA and J.D. from the University of Kansas.

John Hense, Jr. | Managing Director, CC Capital Advisors

John Hense is a managing director and practice leader of CC Capital Advisors, the Kansas City-based investment banking arm of Country Club Bank.  Utilizing more than 30 years of diversified financial experience, Mr. Hense manages corporate finance projects in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, private placements of debt and equity, financial and strategic planning, and general business advisory. Prior to joining Capital Advisors, Mr. Hense was a shareholder and principal at Christenberry Collet Investment Bankers where he advised on more than $1 billion of corporate transactions in his 14 years with the firm. He earned a BS in business administration and an MBA from the University of Kansas, where he currently serves on the faculty in the School of Business.

 

Bill Hess | Retired

Bill Hess recently retired as a partner/shareholder with Gilmore & Bell, P.C. following more than forty years of practicing law. Mr. Hess focused his practice on public finance, representing issuers, underwriters, trustees, hospitals, and developers. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hess practiced with Smith, Gill, Fisher & Butts and Bryan Cave LLP following their merger of Kansas City offices. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas Law School. He has been a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers since its inception.

Matt Kerr | Vice President, Account Management, C2FO

Matt Kerr joined C2FO in 2014. Mr. Kerr is responsible for driving revenue growth and business development in C2FO's enterprise accounts globally. He was formerly with H&R Block where he served as the director of strategy and business development for the H&R Block Bank. Mr. Kerr also held leadership positions at H&R Block that included a start-up business and roles in product and business development. Prior to H&R Block, he spent 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of sales and marketing positions. Mr. Kerr received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Kansas.

 

Mike Kukuk | Blackstone Environmental

Mike Kukuk is a principal and founder of Blackstone Environmental, Inc., in Overland Park, Kansas. He is also one of three original founders of Aquaterra Environmental Solutions. Kukuk has worked in the environmental engineering and solid waste field since 1983. He serves as president for the Kansas SWANA Sunflower Chapter. Since 2002, he has been an active member of the ITRC Alternative Landfill Technologies Bioreactor team. He earned a bachelor's degree in geology from The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas in 1983 and also a master's degree in environmental health science from The University of Kansas in 1987. Kukuk is a registered professional geologist in Kansas and Missouri.

Quentin McArthur | President/Owner, McQueeny Group, Inc.

Quentin McArthur is the president and owner of McQueeny Group, a manufacturer's representative for commercial and industrial heating and air-conditioning machinery. Mr. McArthur graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in construction engineering.

 

Nancy R. McCullough | Principal and Owner, e2E, LLC.

In January 2013, Nancy McCullough launched e2E, with an unparalleled passion for helping small to mid-size businesses grow from entrepreneur to enterprise by providing strategic and tactical expertise in Finance, Accounting, HR and Marketing.  Prior to e2E, Nancy served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and also spent more than 10 years working primarily with entrepreneurial companies, including serving as CFO of a startup private equity fund and in lead finance roles with two companies that pursued IPOs.  Much of her experience has been in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged financing, and initial public offering work. 

John Novak 

John Novak served as a vice chairman and director of Heartland Bank from 2004 to 2010. He served as president and CEO of Ash Grove Materials Corp, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ash Grove Cement Company, from 1983 to 2003. From 1968 to 1983, Mr. Novak was associated with United Missouri City Bank, where he served as president and director from 1979 to 1983. Mr. Novak formerly served on the economic advisory council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 2000 to 2003.

 

Jamey Rowlette | Vice President, Unit Investment Trusts - First Trust Portfolios, LP

Jamey is a Vice President at First Trust Portfolios, a Chicago-based asset management firm. He is responsible for First Trust’s Financial Advisor relationships in Iowa and the Kansas City metro area.  He works closely with advisors to provide them with the highest quality economic and market commentary, portfolio analysis and practice management consulting.  His specific product expertise is Unit Investment Trusts. In 2003, Jamey graduated from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business with a degree in Marketing and from the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts with a degree in Spanish. He has spent his entire 18 year career at First Trust Portfolios. 

Mark Shrout | Managing Partner, Salva O'Renick

Mark Shrout has more than 21 years of experience in sales and marketing. His firm, Salva O'Renick, is a sales and marketing communications firm focused on the unique challenges of the financial services industry, working with firms such as H&R Block Financial Advisors, American Century Investments, AEGON, and several regional banking institutions. Mr. Shrout sits on the board of the Insurance and Financial Communicators Association (IFCA) based in Toronto. He received his BS in marketing from Kansas State University in 1987.

 

Wayne Simien | Associate Athletics Director, Engagement and Outreach, KU

Wayne is the Associate Athletics Director for Engagement and Outreach at the University of Kansas.  His role encompasses serving on the executive staff, facilitating sport specific leadership development, fundraising and external revenue generation and much more.  Prior to joining Kansas Athletics, Wayne spent 13 years in the non-profit sector as co-founder and director of Called To Greatness, a Christian campus ministry that spans across the Midwest.  As a graduate from KU with a degree in Sociology, he has a passion to help people from all walks of life flourish.  He and his wife Katie live in Lawrence with their 5 children.

 

Steve Smith | Former Co-Head, Midland Loan Services 

Prior to his retirement in 2018, Mr. Smith was the co-head of Midland Loan Services, the commercial real estate loan servicing and asset workout division of PNC Real Estate.  PNC Real Estate is part of PNC Bank, one of the nation’s largest commercial banks.  He was responsible for the overall leadership and operations of the Loan Servicing and Real Estate Solutions businesses at Midland as well as Midland’s Enterprise! Software Products group.  Before joining Midland, Mr. Smith was a senior manager in Deloitte & Touche’s management consulting group, providing consulting services primarily to the financial services industry and to various Federal, state and local government agencies. Mr. Smith holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and an MBA, both from the University of Kansas.

 

John H. Stauffer, Jr. | CEO & Chairman, Title Midwest, Inc.

John Stauffer is Chairman of Title Midwest, Inc., the parent company of Secured Title of Kansas City, LLC. Stauffer is a native of Kansas City and after graduatingng from Washburn University and the University of Kansas Law School, practiced law for 20 years in Topeka, KS with the law firm Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds and Palmer. In 1999 he left full time law practice, took over the management of Title Midwest and has been CEO and Chairman since that time. While he maintains his law license and acts as counsel for the Company as necessary , the growth, systemic improvement of the company and insuring the development of the culture of the Company are his primary focus. He is active in the ALTA, legislative issues, bar associations and several volunteer projects. He lives in Olathe, KS with his wife Kathy. They have two children and six grandchildren.

Don Trotter | Director, Horse Cove Partners

Don Trotter currently serves as a director of Horse Cove Partners, an investment management firm based in Atlanta specializing in managing stock options for clients. He also serves as an investment committee chair for a Trust Company and frequently consults with institutions and individuals on investment issues. Previously, he was a founder and managing director of Atlantic Asset Management, LLC, investing $7 billion of client assets when the firm was sold in 2015.  He focused on acquiring interests in investment management firms specializing in the management of non-traditional assets classes. He received an MBA from UMKC and an accounting degree from the University of Kansas.

 

Brad Vignatelli  | President, Blue Chip Printing

Brad Vignatelli’s professional career in sales and marketing has included management stints with Proctor & Gamble, Pepsi-Cola, and General Electric. In 2000, Mr. Vignatelli purchased the former PIP Printing franchise in Overland Park, Kansas. Throughout the past years, he has transitioned the business into a successful independent commercial printing entity known as Blue Chip Printing. Blue Chip provides a full complement of commercial printing, promotional products/apparel and warehouse & fulfillment to the Kansas City business community.

Jonn Wullschleger | Portfolio Manager, Mitchell Capital Management

Jonn Wullschleger began his investment career in 1991. He has extensive analytical experience, first in bank trust investment departments, and then with a mutual fund management company. His primary expertise is analyzing growth companies. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Kansas City Society of Financial Analysts.
